Jerry,

This is a fantastic article. It is incredibly full of useful and practical information. SubStack should pay you for this article and make it highly recommended reading for anyone beginning on SubStack. For me, following the advice in this article is time extremely well spent.

Tremendous thanks from everyone who reads it.

Thanks, Bob! I agree with you—Substack should pay me, haha! I know exactly what the challenges are when starting. It takes more to succeed than just writing a newsletter and Notes. The devil is always in the details.

I am so glad you found it helpful.

I appreciate your comment. Although Substack is straightforward to start, success requires more than writing newsletters. I wish I had such a guide when I started.

I agree. I had been writing on Medium for almost 2 years so I thought it would be an easy transition but it was not. I am finding that I have to treat it much more like a business. I am grateful to you for sharing such helpful information.

You are so right! I started writing on Medium about three years ago. Substack and Medium have different monetization models. Medium was about writing content, but Substack requires a genuine business strategy.

Thanks for your comment.
